What happens after you connect

Once your inbox is connected, InboxIQ begins working immediately. Here's what to expect in the first few minutes and days.

First few minutes

InboxIQ polls your inbox and starts processing emails. For each email:

  1. A label (Gmail) or category tag (Outlook) is applied.
  2. If a draft reply is appropriate, one is created in the thread.
  3. Any matching automation rules fire.

You don't need to refresh or do anything β€” labels will appear in your inbox as emails are processed.

First few days

InboxIQ's draft quality improves quickly once you:

  • Upload your knowledge base β€” go to Settings β†’ Integrations β†’ Knowledge Base and add your help articles, product FAQs, or past reply templates. The AI uses these to ground its drafts.
  • Correct classifications β€” if InboxIQ puts an email in the wrong category, move it to the correct InboxIQ label in Gmail (or change the Outlook category). InboxIQ detects the correction and learns.

What if no emails are being labelled?

If you've connected your inbox but no labels are appearing after 10–15 minutes:

  1. Check that your Gmail or Outlook connection shows Connected in Settings β†’ Integrations.
  2. Confirm that new emails have arrived in your inbox since connecting (InboxIQ only processes new incoming email, not historical emails).
